Cystinuria Symposium 2025 Information

Note: **Please register for the symposium by following the link to the left.  Registration is FREE.

We are in the midst of planning the 2025 UCSF Cystinuria Symposium Day.  Lunch will be provided and parking is FREE.  We are still working on the agenda but please find the details we have so far below:

Location: BCH (Benioff Children's Hospital) MLK Research Building Library and Courtyard
Date: Friday. May 16, 2025
Time:  8:30am-5pm

Here are the parking & access instructions:

The address is 5700 Martin Luther King Jr Way, Oakland, CA. It's a long pink building on MLK between 58th Street and Aileen Street.

The entrance to the building is located on the east (back) side of the building accessed from the 58th Street parking lot.  The parking lot is located on 58th Street.

From the main hospital, take Martin Luther King Jr. Way, turn right on 58th St. and right into the parking lot. It is gated and the hours for the gate are Monday through Friday from 6:30am-6pm.

The gate on 58th is off Martin Luther King Jr Way.  It is not locked and parking is free.

If driving north on MLK, turn right onto 58th St. and take your first right into the first parking lot. The gate should be open and there is no cost to park.

You can drive on to the concrete area next to the black gate with the big "CHORI" logo over it (see photo).

If the gate is not open, buzz Security and say you are here to attend a meeting

Please note: the parking spaces are a bit far from the building entrance (even the handicap spaces), so you may need to personally assist anyone with mobility issues.

For those of you coming in person, I just wanted to provide some extra guidance on getting to the MLK Library from the parking lot to avoid any confusion on Friday morning.  I was recently there and noticed some of the signage around the library has not been updated to indicate the whereabouts of the library specifically (and that it is the MLK library).  I will post our own signage the morning of to make it as clear as possible but wanted to make some notes for you here as well to provide some clarity:

  • The parking lot you will be parking in will be right in front of the building for the senior center.  This is right next to a building marked "CHORI" (both buildings are a pinkish color).  You want to go into the building marked "CHORI" as in the picture above.
  • You will need to get through that gate you see in the picture.  That gate will be closed (don't worry, the one to the parking lot will be open).  On the right is a door in that gate.  I will post a sign for the symposium near this door and prop the door open.  If the door is not propped open, there is a doorbell at the door and a receptionist at the front of the CHORI building will buzz you in.  The receptionist is aware of our event and that several non-UCSF attendees will be arriving.  The door should be propped open but just in case.
  • When you walk in that building, the library is on that first floor and straight back to the end of the hall.  There will be signs but the receptionist can also point you in the right direction. The sign at the top of the library says "University High Memorial Library". (which is also a bit confusing).
